How Elevated Nesting Came to Be

Welcome! I am so grateful that you are here.  I started Elevated Nesting as a source for community, information sharing, and inspiration.  I am a registered nurse with a passion for women’s health.  Healthy aging, specifically for women, can be complex as we navigate massive changes in our lives and bodies.  My mission for this site is to work together as a community to feel our best as we Redefine Aging.

As a 55-year-old woman who is still perimenopausal, I’m navigating dramatic hormonal changes and how they affect the way I feel, sleep, work, and behave.  I am a total science nerd and love researching and finding the connections to why and how things work.

In my research about perimenopause and menopause, I have seen way too much conflicting and, at times, dangerous information. As a nurse, my priorities are the safety and well-being of my patients, so I will always approach discussions and solutions with these principles in mind.  When you read my articles, I want it to feel like you’re chatting with your girlfriend (who happens to be a nurse) sharing what she is experiencing and what she’s learned.  I ensure that my research is always thorough, with scholarly resources and evidence-based, peer-reviewed studies.  I want to help you understand the “why and how” of what’s happening in our bodies and how we can support ourselves to feel our best.  Your safety will always be my top concern as we ELEVATE our knowledge and habits to support our ability to THRIVE!

In my experience, I’ve found that women don’t fully come into our own and realize our full potential until we are in our 40s and 50s.  We finally arrive at a place where we know our worth and embrace our confidence.  Upon reaching this age, most women stop comparing themselves to others and worrying about what everyone else thinks.  For me, it’s been the most empowering period of my life.  Yet, ironically, it is also during this phase of life when our bodies are going through massive hormonal changes that can dramatically affect how we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally.  I have personally felt the internal conflict that stems from proudly owning my value and fully embracing everything that I have become while, at the same time, struggling with the physical and mental repercussions of being a woman in perimenopause.

Elevated Nesting will explore all the life changes that women are experiencing at this age:

  • becoming empty nesters
  • caring for aging parents or facing the loss of parents
  • managing careers or approaching retirement
  • navigating changing relationships with our partners
  • caring for ourselves in mind, body, and spirit

We will go in-depth to learn and share about what is happening in our bodies, focusing on:

  • Perimenopause and Menopause
  • The enormous role that hormones play in all of our body’s systems
  • How to nurture our bodies to be the happiest, healthiest, strongest version of ourselves
  • Being Intentional in carving out time and space to be still, quiet, reflective, and empowered

I also want this site to be full of fun!  We have worked hard, parented hard, loved hard and lived hard.  We deserve to enjoy this phase of life and thrive! Let’s talk about adventures, delicious food, travel, and creating a home-haven that evokes a sense of calm.

We each have a unique story that has brought us to exactly where we are right now.   We have so much to learn from each other!  Let Elevated Nesting be your source to learn and invest in yourself while we develop a community for learning and support.

Thank you for stopping by Elevated Nesting. I can’t wait to get to know you! Let’s chat, share ideas, ask questions, and find new ways to Redefine Aging with Intentional Wellness!
