My Nest

Hello Friday!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I love that it’s on a Friday this year! Whether you’re celebrating with your partner or a hot date, Galentining with your girlfriends, or taking a self-love, self-care night . . . I hope each of you has something lovely planned.

Our Valentine’s plans are super low key and relaxed. We had dinner with friends from our neighborhood last night, and next weekend we have friends from Texas staying with us . . . so our Valentine’s weekend will be cozy and quiet.

One thing that’s making me very happy this weekend is that yesterday Clay took the train from Boston to NYC to visit Emily and Joe for the weekend. He was worried about crashing their Valentine’s weekend, but Em and Joe are so excited to be spending time with him, and that makes my mama heart so full! I’m expecting a lot of pics of the two of you this weekend, hint-hint. (Plus Joe!) and also photos with . . .

Grace, unofficial cousin, is coming into NYC from Philly! She and Clay will be sharing the pull-out sofa, and I predict very little sleep and a whole lot of laughing. I have to brag on Grace – she’s a grad student at Penn getting BOTH her MBA from Wharton and her Master’s in Social Work. She’s such a sweet little stud! If there was room in the apartment, Grace’s mom, Sue, and I would be on a plane to NYC in a heartbeat to crash this reunion . . . I’m sure they’d love that!

We’ve gotten some much-needed snow this week, with more to come this weekend. It’s interesting to live in a place so reliant on snow for so many reasons. First and foremost, we need the moisture to sustain us through fire season. Secondly, our local economy relies on good snow for a successful ski season. And, finally . . . and maybe a little selfishly . . . we live about 10 minutes from the most gorgeous mountain lake that relies on all the water from snow melt to be nice and full for all the kayaking I love to do in the summer!

Let’s do a quick recap of this week in the world of Elevated Nesting:

On Monday, I wrote about the latest research and safety information on everyone’s favorite sleep hormone – Melatonin. There’s so much new information on how we can maximize our own production of melatonin, and, should you need to take synthetic melatonin as an occasional sleep aid, I broke down the safest and most effective ways to use it.

On Tuesday, I updated my first Menopause post from November so we could bring all the new Elevated Nesting readers up to speed on: Should You Break Up with Your OBGYN?

On Thursday, I brought you along with me on my new favorite thing – a Silent Winter Walk. We talked about the physical and mental health benefits of taking a solo walk in the winter cold.

Thank you for spending the week with me!

For anyone who needs to know this . . .

only 23 more days until Daylight Savings begins!

. . . not that I’m counting . . .

Have a great weekend, friends! I’ll see you back here on Monday!
